DON BURT, Professional Horseman

 

One of the leading professional horsemen in the U.S. –trainer, exhibitor, judge for over 45 years.  He judged over 40 horse shows a year for those 45 years including the nationals and world championships in every major breed of horse.

As an author, he has written books titled: “Winning with Arabian Horses”, “Winning with the American Quarter horse”, and “Horses for Other Heroes”. As a columnist for the Horse and Rider Magazine, and the American Quarter Horse Journal, he is acknowledged for his writing with an award from the American Horse Publications –the 2003 Equine Industry Vision Award.

Mr. Burt has lectured throughout the U.S. at universities, Judge’s seminars, breed associations, workshops and clinics throughout the world.

His consulting business specializes in the planning and development of equestrian facilities and has served clients throughout the U.S.

He has serviced the horse industry in many capacities:

§         Past President and Chairman, Reining Discipline Committee, United States   Equestrian Committee.

§         Board member, Trustee, Treasurer and Past President of the American Quarter horse Association.

PROFESSOR WILLIAM C. HUGHES

 

Professor at the Food Marketing and Agribusiness Management Department at Polytechnic University, Pomona, California (‘CalPoly’) teaching Equine Enterprise Management, Equine Appraisal and Evaluation, Equine Investment Management and Management Accounting.

 

Director of W. K. Arabian Horse Center and Equine Science Program at CalPoly University.                                                           

                                          

Past president of the International Arabian Horse Association.

 

Past horseshow manager of the Arabian Horse Association of Southern California Santa Barbara Horse Show including many other committees.

 

Consultant and appraiser of horses for many organizations. Hughes is a member of several appraisal associations. 

 

Co-author of the Farm Operations Manual published by the Farnam Company. 

       

A licensed Judge in Arabian, Western, and Stock-seat equitation.

Andalusian/Lusitano Divisions, Morgans and Friesians. He has judged at many national horse shows in several countries.

 

Past Member of the Drugs and Medication Committee. 

 

Secretary and member of the Western Council of AHSA; Vice Chairman of the AHSA Reining Committee.

 

Hughes has trained horses, owned and operated training and breeding facility for over 40 years.
